Alicia Goldstein Raun is the Managing Director for the MIT-Spain Program and the recently launched MIT-Portugal Program. She is responsible for developing projects and building partnernships in Spain and Portugal with MIT students, faculty, corporate partners, academic institutions, foundations and government organizations. Alicia also established the MISTI Global Teaching Labs in Spain. From 2001 to 2007 Alicia lived in Madrid, Spain where she served as the Director for University and Academic Programs at Tandem, Escuela Internacional. She also taught business English to high-level executives and CEO's at companies and institutions such as BBVA, Telefónica, Banco de España, Mercedes-Benz and the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology. Prior to living abroad, Alicia taught Spanish in the Award Winning Elementary Interactive Spanish Program in Massachusetts' public schools. Alicia holds a B.A in Education and Spanish from UMASS Amherst and a Master's in Education from Cambridge College. In addition to her role with MISTI, Alicia is also the Program Manager for the MIT Portugal Program (MPP): Industry, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Initiative; a large-scale international collaboration involving MIT and government, academia, and industry in Portugal to develop education and research programs related to engineering systems.
